Brene Brown
Hi, I’m Alexis. I’m a passionate educator and trauma enthusiast. I often tell stories, in my life and in my work. I find it helpful for building connection and using vulnerability to disempower shame.
I’m a proud mama of three beautiful girls, Keanna, Shaniya and Kahlia. I also have 2 cats, Kyoshi and Suki and precious our “truly precious” chihuahua who is now in heaven.
It is my hope and deepest prayer that my children know and feel the love that I have for them and continue to have for them despite my hurts, hangups and transmission of multigenerational trauma. This is my vulnerability.
More about me
I am an imperfect human, and my journey here on earth has not been an easy one, I’ve had to overcome the trauma of intimate partner violence, betrayal and the deep-rooted wounds of my childhood development that left the imprint of not feeling worthy or enough.
I have walked in darkness; felt hopeless and experienced loss however through this I have found new hope and love in knowing that I am not alone in my suffering. There is hope and I can heal. I can start living and stop surviving and you can too!
What else can I share with you
I am passionately dedicated to Hope & Healing, and I am on a mission to reclaim my life and help others do the same. In a society that is sick and filled with pain, I believe in the power of resilience, and the transformative nature of healing.
I invite you to join me on this journey of reclaiming our lives and thriving. Together we will navigate the challenges and find joy and fulfillment along the way. I know firsthand the strength of the human spirit and the importance of regaining a sense of self worth. I invite you to shine your light and reclaim your power and gain your life back. I know fear all so well, it creeps in and discourages us and holds us captive and keeps us “stuck”.
I invite you to just take the first step. Your story will be the testament to the strength of the human spirit and inspiration to all those who have faced adversity.
I’m a Registered Social Worker (RSW), with a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from University of Windsor (2018). Let me tell you It wasn’t easy! As a teen mom, married young, experiencing intimate partner violence, I’m still amazed at how I did it?
I started by career as a Personal Support Worker in (2005), Went on to get my Diploma as Social Service Worker at Niagara College (2012), then a 4-year Honors Bachelor of Arts Degree with a specialization in Social Work (2016).
Over the last 19 years I have had a career working as a helping professional in children, community & social services, developmental services, long term care, public health – mental health, and emergency & psychiatric services in hospital.
The empath in me, my own life, and passionate pursuit to heal and help others propelled me into specializing in adverse childhood experiences, attachment & trauma, and mental health – healing & overcoming all the HURT, HABITS, and BEHAVIOURS that were no longer serving me and wanting to share what I learned with all of you!
I’m trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), I utilize a variety of modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Somatic Resourcing and befriending your nervous system. With a focus on Attachment and Trauma for an integrated approach to healing, pulling from Poly Vagal Theory (Your nervous systems wiring for safety and connection)
